The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of medical instruments and equipment. The average daily tray volume handled is significant, requiring attention to detail and efficiency. Experience is required in using chemical agents for decontamination and disinfectants. The role involves the use of washers and sterilizers, as well as sterilization wrapping procedures. Sets and trays assembly is crucial, including knowledge of various specialties such as dental, ENT, general, laparoscopic, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, robotics, and urology. Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed. No weekend requirements are expected for this position. Knowledge of service lines in orthopedics, neurology, and cardiovascular is essential. The work environment is fast-paced and interacts with a high acuity patient population. The position requires a commitment to quality patient care and adherence to safety protocols. Chemistry knowledge and experience with service line procedures are critical for success in this role. Candidates that successfully complete their duties will contribute significantly to the operational efficiency of the surgical services team.
