Job Title: Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I)

Location: Jacksonville, FL
Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM; Rotational Saturdays (7:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and care. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, ensuring accurate processing, and delivering a positive patient experience. The PSR I builds trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing blood collection safely and accurately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens (venipuncture and capillary) following established procedures
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing with accuracy and timeliness
  • Provide a welcoming and professional environment for patients
  • Explain procedures to patients and address concerns to ensure comfort and confidence
  • Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection duties
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with policies
  • Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and data accuracy
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and compliance standards
  • Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the community
Additional Duties
  • Perform daily activities under the direction of the area supervisor
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and leadership behaviors
  • Support operational needs, including flexible scheduling if required
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (required)
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent patient interaction and customer service skills
  • Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or similar healthcare training
  • Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states; preferred elsewhere)
  • Customer service experience in healthcare, retail, or service industry
Work Requirements
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, or on-call as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
