Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Overview

A well-established, commercial general contractor based in the Sacramento region seeks a Chief Financial Officer to join the executive team and lead the next phase of growth. As CFO, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the financial future of the company, overseeing all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, risk management, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the company's financial operations, including accounting, cash flow, job costing, financial planning, and compliance.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop and execute financial strategies that support growth and operational excellence.
• Monitor performance metrics, analyze financial and operational data, and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Oversee bonding, insurance, and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific reporting requirements.
• Implement and improve internal controls, financial systems, and processes to drive efficiency and mitigate risk.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with project teams to align projections with project lifecycles.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to the accounting/finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3 years in the commercial construction industry.
• Deep knowledge of construction accounting, WIP reporting, and job costing.
• Strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
• Proven track record of leading financial teams and partnering with operations to drive business results.
