Income Tax Preparer Wanted

Join our dynamic team as a Tax Preparer and become a vital part of helping individuals and businesses navigate the complex world of tax compliance and reporting. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns using advanced tax preparation software, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Research tax issues and provide recommendations to leadership
• Gather and analyze financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, balance sheets, income statements, and other supporting records
• Review client documentation for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose corrections
• Prepare workpapers and schedules to support the review process
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation in accounting software, and ensure compliance with firm policies
• Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of returns
• Respond to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner
• Collaborate across tax, audit, and accounting teams to support client needs
• Support client acquisition efforts through marketing initiatives and excellent customer service

Qualifications & Core Competencies:

• Three years experience in tax preparation, public accounting, or related fields, with a focus on individual and corporate taxes
• Strong knowledge of tax law, tax reporting requirements, and compliance standards
• Proficiency in tax preparation software (Lacerte, Drake Tax, or similar) and accounting software (QuickBooks)
• Solid knowledge of bookkeeping practices and technical accounting principles
• Analytical mindset with high accuracy in math and data entry (10-key typing proficiency)
• Effective, trust-building client communication and relationship management skills
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax season
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across functions
• Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information
• Basic knowledge of financial sales/marketing strategies and partnership tax expertise a plus

Work Environment & Expectations:

• Part-time (off season)
• Full-time (January - April)
• Standard business hours with flexibility
