Summary Science Akadémeia is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic
Summer Camp Counselors to join our team for our STEM-focused summer camp program. Counselors will help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment where children explore
science, engineering, robotics, nature, and creative problem-solving through hands-on activities.
This role is ideal for
college students pursuing education, science, engineering, computer science, psychology, or related fields , and for individuals who enjoy working with young children in an active learning environment.
Duties - Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times
- Assist with daily STEM-based camp activities , including science experiments, engineering challenges, robotics, and creative projects
- Lead small group activities and encourage participation and teamwork
- Support camp instructors and staff in preparing materials and organizing activities
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful camp environment
- Assist with transitions between activities, meals, and outdoor play
- Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness
- Communicate respectfully with staff, campers, and families
Requirements - Must be at least 18 years old
- Current college student or recent graduate preferred
- Interest in working with children in an educational environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Energetic, reliable, and professional demeanor
- Ability to supervise groups of children in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Must pass a DECAL comprehensive background check
- Must complete the DECAL Health and Safety Training (online) prior to working with children
- Must attend the mandatory orientation the week prior to camp
Must be available
Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the camp dates Nice To Haves 1. Enthusiasm for STEM - Interest in science, engineering,art, robotics, coding, or technology
- Curiosity about how things work and excitement about sharing that curiosity with children
2. Creativity - Ability to make activities fun, engaging, and hands-on
- Comfort leading games, experiments, and creative challenges
3. Experience with Children - Previous work as a camp counselor, tutor, babysitter, teacher assistant, or youth mentor
- Volunteer work with youth programs or community organizations
4. Leadership Skills - Ability to guide small groups of children
- Confidence managing group dynamics and keeping children engaged
5. Positive Energy - High energy and enthusiasm
- Encouraging attitude that motivates children to participate and explore
6. Adaptability - Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to adjust quickly when plans change or when activities need to be modified
7. Team-Oriented Mindset - Willingness to collaborate with teachers, camp staff, and other counselors
- Supports a cooperative and respectful work environment
8. Cultural Curiosity - Interest in global learning, nature, science exploration, and diverse cultures—important for Science Akadémeia’s themed camps
9. Problem-Solving Skills - Able to think on their feet when activities don’t go as planned
- Encourages children to experiment and find solutions

- Comfortable following school policies and safety procedures
