Title: On-Call TV Production Engineer Schedule Format - Location: On-site - San Francisco Pay Information: Hourly Rate: $43.73 - $78.13 an hour Position Summary TV Engineer with primary expertise as a Technical Director, Camera Operator and Audio Operator for live and live-to-tape TV broadcast production. Experienced Broadcast Production Engineer with the skills required to take fast‑paced productions from concept through execution—configuration and operation. Responsibilities Assign to various live and prerecorded KQED productions. Configure and operate production switchers, professional cameras, and audio mixers. Collaborate closely with producers, directors, and crew to ensure all aspects of the production run smoothly. Work in lockstep with Engineering Maintenance to report, track, and resolve technical issues in the production control room and technical facilities. Qualifications Five or more years of experience in professional live and recorded broadcast operations. Knowledge in production and operations, including audio recording, robotic camera, and other television‑related equipment. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies. Ability to work independently with strong collaboration skills and meet deadlines. Proactive thinking and prioritization skills. Fluent in written and spoken English. Mandatory membership in NABET Local 51 or willingness to join if not currently a member. Willingness to work flexible schedules and adapt to schedule changes. Requirements Hybrid work arrangement with time at KQED’s headquarters in San Francisco and remote work. Full COVID‑19 vaccination required. Union Membership in the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET) Local 51 is required.
