We're looking for a Summer Marketing Intern to support our Performance Marketing Strategist in executing and optimizing paid media and customer retention campaigns. This internship is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in performance marketing, paid advertising, lifecycle marketing (email & SMS), and data-driven campaign optimization. The ideal candidate is analytical, creative, and excited to learn how full-funnel marketing drives customer acquisition and retention.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution and optimization of paid media campaigns across Google Ads, Meta, Bing, Pinterest, TikTok, and Demand Side Platforms (DSP).
  • Support audience targeting, creative testing, bid adjustments, and budget pacing.
  • Help write and test ad copy aligned with campaign objectives and brand messaging.
  • Monitor key performance metrics such as ROAS, CPA, CTR, and conversion rate to identify optimization opportunities.
Email & SMS Marketing (Customer Retention)
  • Assist in building and scheduling email and SMS campaigns focused on customer retention, engagement, and lifecycle marketing.
  • Support segmentation strategies to improve targeting and personalization.
  • Help develop and test subject lines, messaging, and offers to improve open rates, click-through rates, and revenue per send.
  • Monitor and report on retention KPIs including repeat purchase rate, customer lifetime value (LTV), and unsubscribe rates.
  • Assist with automated flows such as welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase, and win-back campaigns.
Campaign Tracking & Reporting
  • Collect and organize performance data across paid media and retention channels.
  • Assist in preparing weekly performance reports with actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Research competitor marketing strategies and industry trends to inform campaign improvements.
  • Help identify cross-channel opportunities between paid acquisition and retention marketing.
Collaboration & Learning
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, creative, and agency partners.
  • Participate in strategy discussions around customer acquisition and lifecycle marketing.
  • Stay up to date with platform updates, marketing trends, and best practices in performance and retention marketing.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in performance marketing, paid media, and customer retention strategies.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret marketing performance data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for reporting and analysis.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position requires no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and, in some cases, from a remote offsite location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position is primarily sedentary and requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires good manual dexterity and coordination with the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an internship position designed for the summer semester, 10-12 weeks is the expected duration. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Marketing Director; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Expected Education and Experience

  1. Customer Service experience
  2. Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals
  3. Ability to solve practical industry related problems.
  4. Professional or educational experience in business, accounting/finance or marketing.
  5. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Hourly Pay Range

$15—$20 USD
