Job Title: Injection Molding Supervisor

Location: Lake Zurich, IL 60047

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00/hr depending on experience

Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Monday–Friday

About the Role

A well-established manufacturer in Lake Zurich, IL is looking for a hands-on Injection Molding Supervisor to take full ownership of their injection molding department. This is a rare opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to own a department, build a team from the ground up, and make a real impact. The facility is clean, modern, bright, and well-organized — candidates who visit are consistently impressed.

This is not a sit-behind-the-desk supervisor role. The ideal candidate is a working leader who loves coaching and developing people, can step in and run machines or perform changeovers when needed, and is excited about taking a department that has room to grow and making it their own.

What You'll Be Doing

• Taking full ownership of a 5-machine injection molding department running 350+ part numbers across 36 different raw materials in a high-mix, low-volume environment
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of 2-3 entry-level operators and 1 experienced senior technician
• Performing mold changeovers, machine setups, and operating machines as needed when the team is short or volume demands it
• Mixing raw materials and managing material selection across different resins, colors, and pellet sizes
• Hitting production schedule KPIs and managing efficient department output
• Identifying process improvements and cost savings initiatives to reduce overtime and improve efficiency
• Working closely with a Manufacturing Engineer who handles programming and technical support
• Managing different personality types and skill levels across the team

What We're Looking For

• 7–10 years of injection molding experience — required
• 2–5+ years of lead, supervisor, or manager-level experience in an injection molding environment
• Hands-on, coach-style leader — someone who genuinely enjoys developing people and seeing them grow
• Comfortable being a working supervisor — willing to step in and operate or set up machines alongside the team
• Experience in a high-mix, low-volume or job shop environment strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of mold changeovers, process adjustments, and raw material handling
• Able to manage a mixed team of junior and experienced operators
• Continuous improvement mindset — able to identify inefficiencies and drive solutions
• Able to pass a drug test that screens for marijuana — zero tolerance policy

Nice to Have

• Experience with Krauss Maffei injection molding machines specifically
• PLC troubleshooting or modification experience
• Job shop background with tribal knowledge of different resins, colors, and melting temperatures

Requirements
