Grant Manager – Ujamaa Place

Location: St. Paul, MN Reports To: Director of Advancement

Position Summary

The Grant Manager is responsible for managing Ujamaa Place’s full grant lifecycle—from prospecting and proposal development to reporting and stewardship. This role ensures that Ujamaa Place maintains a strong, diversified portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funding that aligns with our mission and supports organizational growth.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer with attention to detail and the ability to translate program outcomes and impact into compelling narratives and data. You value contributing to a mission-driven environment and possess cultural sensitivity and curiosity around both organizational and social solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, identify, and evaluate new funding opportunities aligned with Ujamaa Place’s mission and priorities.
• Maintain a 12–24-month grant pipeline with clear deadlines, submission targets, and revenue projections.
• Collaborate with leadership to align grant strategy with budget targets, organizational goals, and program needs.
• Write high-quality letters of inquiry, proposals, government grants, and reports.
• Gather program data, participant outcomes, budgets, and narratives from internal teams.
• Tailor proposals to reflect funder values and priorities while maintaining Ujamaa’ Place's voice and cultural grounding.
• Track grant deliverables, outcomes, and expenditures in collaboration with Finance and Program teams.
• Ensure compliance with funder guidelines, government regulations, and internal policies.
• Prepare reports for Leadership and Board of Directors.
• Monitor Government opportunities and participate in webinar and RFP info sessions to be abreast and prepared for contract opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven experience in non-profit grant writing, including state or federal government grants.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of State and Federal Government grant structure and requirements (specifically DEED).
• Demonstrated knowledge of SalesForce or another CRM.

Preferred

• Familiarity with human services, criminal justice, or culturally specific programming.
• Understanding of the institutional philanthropic landscape in Minnesota.
