Job Description

About ALB Tutoring

ALB Tutoring is a virtual, comprehensive educational organization that teaches students to Always Learn Better™️.

We are an ensemble of educational therapists and educators who create custom plans based on students’ individual histories to meet defined objectives. The strategy is then implemented to reach academic and personal goals, boost confidence, and increase overall development. Our specialists help students become self-aware, understand their unique learning styles, leverage their strengths, address their areas for growth, and improve executive functioning.

This training is combined with academic tutoring, standardized test preparation, and college admission guidance to yield positive results and noticeable improvement. Students thrive personally and academically, becoming empowered to stay engaged, build self-efficacy, and reach outlined goals.

Our educational methods transcend the traditional; we weave conversations and social-emotional learning that provoke identity, autonomy, and skill development into our overall guidance. This is how we teach students to Always Learn Better™.

ALB Tutoring is looking to invest in personable, motivated, and organized executive functioning coaches to work with middle and high school students (grades 6–12) on executive functioning strategies, skill-building, and academic support.

ALB Tutoring is a woman-owned business and provides opportunities regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic information.

Why tutor with us?

  • Competitive pay, starting at $75 per hour, with potential for increases based on degree status, experience, and performance.
  • Tutor virtually (online) from anywhere!
  • Set your own hours and schedule in agreement with students.
  • Benefit from a coaching relationship with the founder of ALB Tutoring for professional growth and development.

Role Description

This is a remote, contract role for an Executive Functioning Coach. The coach will work at the intersection of academics and executive functioning — building self-awareness, EF strategies, and organizational systems while providing targeted academic subject support.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based executive function coaching and academic subject support to middle and high school students in the United States, most specifically in the New York/Tri-State Area, at the intersection of EF skill-building and academic success.
  • Build students’ self-awareness of their EF strengths and areas for growth; teach and reinforce strategies they can apply independently across subjects and real-world situations.
  • Design and implement customized lesson plans using gradual release teaching; scaffold for diverse learners including those with processing delays, working memory deficits, and Specific Learning Disorders.
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with students, families, and the ALB Tutoring team; build supportive relationships and maintain high standards of professionalism.
  • Maintain an accurate calendar in Teachworks and meet regularly with ALB Tutoring leadership to discuss student progress.

Who you are

  • An educator with formal training in education or psychology – you may also be an educational therapist or learning specialist. You hold relevant credentials or equivalent experience, have worked with middle and high school students one-to-one or in a school setting, and can provide academic support across multiple subjects.
  • Passionate about supporting student success and enhancing their confidence – You recognize and acknowledge students’ individuality and needs to help them achieve their personal potential.
  • Cognitively flexible – When working with students from different academic and personal backgrounds and learning styles, you understand when they struggle and pivot to explain material in multiple ways.
  • A YES person – You are passionate about and are motivated to find a way to solve challenges when plans A and B do not work.
  • Resourceful and a lifelong learner – You seek out opportunities to learn, like strategies or techniques to help better connect with and support students. This includes doing research, reading, and asking for help in evolving as an educator and professional.
  • An enthusiastic communicator, collaborator, and team member.
  • Organized and meticulous – You are attentive to detail and have a plan for each session and keep notes, calendar, and documents organized.

Qualifications

  • Formal training in education or psychology; credentials or certification as an executive functioning coach, educational therapist, learning specialist, or teacher.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working one-to-one or in a school setting with middle and/or high school students.
  • Ability to provide academic tutoring across at least 2–3 core subjects at the middle and/or high school level.
  • Experience tutoring/teaching virtually.
  • Remote availability weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends.
  • Consistent availability for at least 3 hours per week.
  • Ability to make at least a one-year commitment to provide consistency for students and minimize disruptions to their learning.
  • Knowledge in pedagogy of your subject area.
  • Access to a computer with a webcam, microphone, headphones, and a reliable internet connection for virtual instruction. Tablet or iPad also requested to use as online whiteboard.
  • Ability to work in the United States.

How to apply

  • Complete the application where you will also submit your résumé.
  • Interview including role-playing a 10-minute snapshot of a session.
  • Submit three reference contacts.
