Job Description

Department: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Shift: Various shifts as required Reports to: Environmental Health & Safety Director/Managers Job Summary: As an Environmental Health & Safety Lead, you will be responsible for administering and overseeing local EHS programs. This includes administering safety training, employee health awareness, and compliance with safety regulations and procedures. The Environmental Health & Safety Lead will oversee, administer, and assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental health and safety programs, procedures/practices necessary to provide for safe and healthy working conditions for employees and to help operate the facility in an environmentally responsible manner. The ideal Environmental Health & Safety Lead is a multitasker who handles a variety of work situations, ensures a safe working environment for everyone, and supports multiple lines of business to reach AFW’s “Goal Zero”. Duties/Responsibilities: Typical duties include but are not limited to: * Implements health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines for employee, department, and company safety.

  • Lead and oversee local incident investigations, root cause analysis.
  • Complete incident paperwork in compliance with company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain incident and safety (OSHA 300) logs.
  • Develop safety and risk assessments through audits and other means.
  • Interacts with employees, contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory
agencies to research. and interpret standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Determines requisite for and organizes audits of company operated properties.
  • Keeps employees informed of regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Assists in development and implementation of systems and standards to
facilitate the capturing and analysis of safety statistics. * Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of safety best practices.
  • Uses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes.
  • May provide guidance and act as a subject matter expert to less experienced
team members.

Qualifications
  • Previous EHS experience required.
  • Strong OSHA safety regulations experience and knowledge preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations including UST (Underground
storage tanks) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) preferred
  • Knowledge of property management preferred
  • Experience working and knowledge of building maintenance, fire suppression,
and alarm systems preferred.
  • Skills in operation of various machinery, tools, and equipment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and troubleshoot for
proper operation before and after maintenance. * Knowledge of workplace safety procedures. Compensation Package: Pay rate: $22/hour starting wage, negotiable based on experience Supervision Given and Received: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position is supervised directly by the EHS Director & EHS Managers. Required Skills/Abilities: * Ability to be trained on the correct use of personal protective equipment

(PPE).

Computer Skills: Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), and advanced internet research skills. Ability to regularly use computers for ordering, communication, documentation, scheduling, maintenance of organizational content on shared drives. Advanced knowledge of Excel is preferred as this job works heavily with tables and macros. Certificates and Licenses: OSHA 132 and other Environmental Health and Safety certifications/licenses preferred. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED is required; two-year degree preferred; Environmental Health and Safety related degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of degree. Physical Demands:
  • Requires the ability to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas.
  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours a day.
  • Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
  • Able to work in various weather conditions. The physical environment requires
the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. * Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50-100lbs
  • Able to work shifts that are 8-12 hours long.
  • Ability to work 0 to 35 feet above the ground.
