Are you passionate about advancing literacy and supporting educators across California? The California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking a collaborative and highly motivated Education Programs Consultant to join the Professional Learning Innovations Office.
Under the general supervision of the Education Administrator I of the Professional Learning Innovations Office, in the Professional Learning Support Division, the Education Programs Consultant plays a key role in advancing statewide literacy initiatives. This position supports the implementation of the Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) Grant Program and provides pre-kindergarten through grade twelve technical assistance to schools, districts, county offices of education (COEs), and families.
Key Responsibilities:
--Administer and support implementation of the CLSD Grant Program
--Provide technical assistance to educational partners to improve student literacy outcomes
--Collaborate with internal CDE staff and external partners to finalize and promote the State Literacy Plan
--Coordinate the statewide literacy grant program, including monitoring and support of COEs
--Work within California’s Statewide System of Support to advance literacy-focused professional learning
--Promote alignment with California Standards, curriculum frameworks, and assessment systems
--Support the design and delivery of high-quality professional learning for educators
--Facilitate meetings with internal staff and external partners
--Write reports for submission to the U.S. Department of Education

TELEWORK OPTION
HYBRID
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. Currently, the hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

In your response, include the purpose of the report, the type of information synthesized, your process for ensuring accuracy and clarity, and how you tailored the content to meet the needs of an executive audience.
4. Describe your experience facilitating meetings.
5. Summarize your experience working collaboratively with another organization, educational agency, or state agency.
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Knowledge and understanding of the implementing literacy programs, and educational reform efforts, particularly in the areas of professional learning, curriculum and instruction. Familiarity with current State Superintendent of Public Instruction's initiatives and State Board policies. Experience working with school districts, COEs, and professional development providers. Excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal), strong public-speaking and presenting skills, and good organizational habits are all essential.
