Reports To: Executive Director, US Medical Affairs

About This Role:

Our US Medical Affairs team is excited to add an experienced Medical Director to our team. You will be responsible for managing a wide range activities to support ITF's Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) efforts in the United States.

This role will focus on being the subject matter expert for both internal teams and external partners, while working closely with our global team to align with overall DMD strategy. Thoroughly understanding the therapeutic area and our data, patient base, and business priorities will be critical to the success of this role.

Reporting to the Executive Director, U.S. Medical Affairs, this role will own and lead multiple key initiatives, provide insight and guidance to cross-functional partners, work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

The role will be hybrid, so candidates applying must be willing and able to come to our office in Concord, MA with regularity and according to business needs.

What You'll Do:
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the US medical strategy and tactics in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, as aligned with global strategy
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure all U.S. medical activities are aligned with global medical strategy and that Global Medical is sufficiently aware of the US-based insights and needs
  • Understand the local business needs and provide insights to cross functional teams
  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of high-impact medical activities, such as advisory boards, to gather clinical insights
  • Deliver medical presentations at internal training and other key events as needed
  • Manage external agencies and vendors to ensure high-quality planning and execution of outsourced medical deliverables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within ITF Therapeutics to provide medical/scientific expertise and marketplace feedback
  • Lead the development of proactive and reactive field materials as needed (e.g., FAQs, medical reactive response, FAQ responses, advisory board content) with the input from field teams
  • Critically interprets scientific data, determines the potential impact of new research on clinical practice, and uses scientific and clinical data to formulate frameworks and disease management approaches


Who You Are:

As an experienced Medical Affairs professional in the rare disease space, you bring a strong ability to balance data-driven insights with go-to-market priorities. You are a natural educator who translates complex scientific information into clear, actionable messages for diverse audiences. Having worked in small, agile organizations, you excel at getting things done through close collaboration with cross-functional and external stakeholders.

Required Skills:
  • 7+ years of related and progressive experience in Medical Affairs
  • Advanced degree required: PhD, PharmD, or MD


Preferred Skills:

  • 12+ years of relevant and progressive experience in biotech and/or pharmaceutical industries
  • Startup experience preferred
  • Experience in neuromuscular disease or other rare disease highly desired
  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive medical affairs plans
  • Skilled at critically analyzing, synthesizing, and conveying complex scientific information
  • Proven ability to establish productive collaborations with medical experts and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment


Additional Information:

The base compensation range for this role is: $225,000 - $255,000. Compensation is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
