Community Service Advocate

Nonprofit membership organization serving the 4-county area. Our Mission is to help community members connect with services they need to effectively care for themselves and their families. Our services are voluntary and free to residents. Passion for the mission is essential. Confidentiality and adherence to data privacy is critical.

21-22/hr

Full time and part-time hours available

Job description:

  • Interview client; explain program benefits and requirements to clients; obtain and verify information necessary to process applications and recertification.
  • Advise clients on viable program options; provide referrals for other resources. Assist clients with county, state, federal and other nonprofit program applications
  • Work in cooperation and coordination with county staff, local, state and federal agencies, service providers and nonprofits to provide client access to services and application or renewal assistance.
  • Maintain case files and records
  • Respond to client concerns and complaints; recommend potential program referrals and advocacy as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing job-specific training.
  • Participate in agency outreach, networking, and interagency meetings.

Expectations:

- Consistent daily attendance required Monday - Friday

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of cooperative community resources and programs as well as the principles and practices of public social service organizations.
  • Compose standard and specialized business correspondence.
  • Create and maintain applicable files, case, and program records.
  • Proficiency in standard office equipment and software
  • Ability to
    • Analyze data and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions.
    • Follow complex oral and written instructions.
    • Retain detailed program information and relay it to others in an understandable way
    • Manage workload and meet frequent deadlines.
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, coworkers, comparable agencies at other levels of government, business partners, and the general public.
    • Take initiative - seek ways to improve the community you serve
