Job Title: Coach Cleaner

Job Description

The Coach Cleaner ensures passenger rail cars are clean, sanitary, and presentable by performing detailed cleaning, sanitizing, and light maintenance tasks throughout the interior and exterior areas of the cars during the overnight shift.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize passenger cars, including all interior areas and high-touch surfaces.
• Clean and polish lighting fixtures, floors, seats, surfaces, and trim to maintain a neat and professional appearance.
• Clean restrooms in passenger cars and replenish all bathroom supplies as needed.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using appropriate cleaning methods.
• Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment throughout the rail cars.
• Polish metalwork to maintain a clean and polished look.
• Wash windows, door panels, and sills to ensure clear visibility and a clean environment.
• Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays and ensure all receptacles are clean and properly maintained.
• Transport trash and waste to designated disposal areas in a safe and timely manner.
• Keep areas around dumpsters clean, organized, and secure.
• Replace light bulbs and perform basic light-duty upkeep as needed.
• Follow established guidelines for conduct, safety, and cleanliness at all times.
• Notify the supervisor of any faulty or damaged equipment or conditions requiring attention.
• Perform other related cleaning and custodial duties as required or assigned.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing cleaning, janitorial, or custodial duties in an industrial, commercial, or transportation environment.
• Ability to clean and sanitize passenger cars thoroughly and efficiently.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, including sweeping, sanitizing, and general housekeeping tasks.
• Ability to handle general labor tasks related to cleaning and waste disposal.
• High attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and sanitization standards.
• Ability to work the Sunday–Thursday overnight shift from 4pm - Midnight
• High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred.
• Experience with industrial cleaning or custodial work is beneficial.
• Familiarity with sanitization practices and proper use of cleaning products.
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures and guidelines.
• Reliability and strong work ethic in an overnight shift environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a rail facility, working primarily inside passenger rail cars. The position follows an overnight schedule from Sunday through Thursday, 4pm - Midnight Work involves standing, walking, bending, and handling cleaning tools and supplies throughout the shift. The environment includes industrial cleaning conditions typical of rail operations, with a focus on maintaining clean, sanitary, and orderly passenger areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
