The Cardiovascular Specialist I is responsible to perform all required procedures in the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory, operating specialized equipment including but not limited to the x-ray equipment, EP pacing systems, hemodynamic monitoring, and other specialized equipment.
Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
Explains and prepares the patient for all invasive procedures.
Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts in order to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
Train staff technologists in special procedures.
Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the cardiac catheterization department, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (as low as reasonably achievable) standards.
Responsible for performing all related exams within the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory.
Performs various clerical duties including.
Checks stock inventory and initiates orders.
Trains other staff technologists and students as needed.
Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
