Youth Esports Academy Coach – 918 eSports Position Overview

The Youth Esports Academy Coach is responsible for leading and developing young players (ages 8–17) in a structured, team-based esports environment. Coaches focus on building strong fundamentals in communication, teamwork, and coachability while guiding players through practices and league matches.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about gaming, enjoys working with kids, and can serve as both a mentor and leader.

Coaching & Player Development

• Lead structured team practices and game sessions (typically 6–8 PM)
• Teach and reinforce core skills: communication, teamwork, and coachability
• Provide constructive feedback to help players improve both in and out of game
• Manage team dynamics and encourage a positive, competitive environment

Team Management

• Organize players for league matches and practices
• Ensure players are prepared, on time, and ready to compete
• Track player progress and contribute to evaluations/feedback reports
• Communicate with players about expectations and improvement areas

Youth Engagement & Mentorship

• Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all players
• Serve as a role model for behavior, sportsmanship, and attitude
• Help players manage emotions during wins, losses, and high-pressure moments

Parent Communication

• Provide occasional updates or insights on player development
• Represent the program professionally when interacting with parents

Event & League Support

• Assist during league matches, tournaments, and special events
• Help ensure matches run smoothly and according to schedule

• Strong knowledge of at least one competitive game (Fortnite, Valorant, Rocket League, Apex Legends, or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)
• Ability to teach, lead, and communicate effectively with kids and teens
• Patient, positive, and encouraging coaching style
• Reliable and punctual with consistent availability
• Comfortable managing small groups and maintaining structure

• Prior coaching, mentoring, or teaching experience
• Competitive gaming experience (ranked, tournaments, or team play)
• Experience working with youth in any setting

• Be a positive leader and role model at all times
• Prioritize player development over winning
• Maintain professionalism with players, parents, and staff
• Follow all safety procedures and center policies
• Communicate clearly with staff regarding attendance and scheduling

• Evening hours primarily (most teams meet 6–8 PM)
• Typically 2–3 days per week depending on team assignment
• Additional availability for tournaments or events is a plus

• High-energy esports facility
• Direct interaction with youth players and families
